Jenner & Block Partner Susan J. Kohlmann will speak at a Hildebrandt Institute forum titled, “Retaining Women in the Legal Profession: Advancing the Dialogue Between Law Firm Management and Corporate General Counsel,” to be held March 5 at the Grand Hyatt in New York.

The forum, in its fourth year, will bring together law firms leaders and prominent general counsel to address complex gender and diversity issues concerning the retention and promotion of women attorneys in the legal profession. The forum will discuss best practices that leaders of law firms can follow to attract women to the legal profession and develop female partners into leadership roles at their firms. The forum will feature, among other things, a corporate general counsel dialogue and roundtable, and a discussion on equitable firm compensation systems for women.

Ms. Kohlmann will speak on a panel titled, “Answers to the Attrition and Retention Problem.” The panel will examine what leading law firms and legal departments are doing to retain and recruit women to law firms, and the best practices and lessons learned in the recruitment, retention and development of women. The panel will specifically explore issues that affect women’s career progression, look at the role of inclusion and access to informal networks within law firms, and discuss non-linear career paths, mentoring and firm culture.

Ms. Kohlmann is a member of the Firm's Litigation Department and its Appellate and Supreme Court, Arbitration: Domestic and International, Business Litigation, Class Action Litigation, Entertainment and New Media, and Intellectual Property Practices.  She is an experienced commercial litigator with extensive trial experience in state and federal courts as well as arbitration proceedings and also serves as Co-Chair of the New York City Bar’s Committee to Enhance Diversity.
