“Practice before the Board,” Federal Circuit Bar Association’s “Patent Litigation 2017: The Courts and Patent Trial and Appeal Board” Regional Meeting

Jenner & Block Partner Reginald J. Hill spoke at a panel discussion during the Federal Circuit Bar Association’s “Patent Litigation 2017: The Courts and Patent Trial and Appeal Board” regional meeting in Santa Clara, CA.  Titled “Practice before the Board,” his session covered topics including institution rates for AIA reviews before the PTAB; recent Federal Circuit decisions requiring more detailed explanations from the PTAB; filing of serial petitions challenging patents; precedential PTAB opinions; and a PTAB reconsideration process, including en banc-type hearings.  Mr. Hill provided the perspective of a practitioner before the PTBA.  Other panelists included Julian Moore, legal counsel for Twitter, Inc., and David Ruschke, chief administrative patent judge of the PTAB.  The meeting was held on February 1, 2017.

Mr. Hill focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation and counseling.  Corporations seek his help with a variety of matters including patents, copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets, particularly related to technology.
