Jenner & Block Partners Gabriel A. Fuentes, Ana R. Bugan and Jolene E. Negre will speak at the 41st Annual Convention of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA), being held in Chicago from September 7-10, 2016. 

On Thursday, September 8, from 2:15 pm to 3:30 pm, Mr. Fuentes will speak on a panel titled “Anti-Corruption Developments in Latin America & Beyond:  Managing the Mounting Compliance Concerns in Latin America.”  On Friday, September 9, from 11 am to 12:15 pm, Ms. Bugan’s panel will discuss “Compliance Officers in a New Era:  Navigating Increased Risk, Enforcement and Personal Liability.”  Ms. Negre speaks from 3:45 pm to 5 pm on Friday, on a panel titled “Worth the Read? Contract Damages, Indemnity Provisions and Other Boilerplate Language Exposure.”

Mr. Fuentes is a member of the firm’s White Collar Defense and Investigations, Antitrust and Competition Law, and Media and First Amendment Practices.  He is a former assistant US Attorney and has broad-based experience in complex civil and criminal matters, including international criminal antitrust investigations and prosecutions and sensitive corporate internal investigations.  He speaks and writes frequently on criminal law, scientific evidence, ethics, and corporate investigation and compliance issues. 

Ms. Bugan is a member of the White Collar Defense and Investigations Practice and regularly represents clients in internal and government investigations, Congressional inquiries, and compliance-related matters.  She has extensive experience with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and the False Claims Act.  Ms. Bugan speaks fluent French and Spanish and has conducted several investigations in Spanish for multinational clients with operations in Latin America.

Ms. Negre is a partner in the Corporate Department, representing clients in transactions including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic investments, technology acquisitions and private equity financings.  She has extensive experience in the areas of telecommunications and media and entertainment, focusing on cable television networks, digital media, telecommunications systems and technologies developed in those industries.
