Special Counsel Heidi L. Wachs moderated a discussion during the Higher Education Privacy Conference. Titled “Cybersecurity,” the session examined the special challenges of protecting the security of data in the higher education environment. Speakers offered their insight on how various laws and regulatory regimes should be complied with, the appropriate level of information sharing to further security goals, the extent to which privacy and security are in congruence or in tension, and measures that should be undertaken to prepare for a privacy/security incident. The one-day conference focused on privacy and information management in higher education. It was held on May 10, 2016, in Washington, DC.
