Jenner & Block Partner Michael T. Brody will moderate a panel discussion during a conference titled E Pluribus Unum: The Immigration Conundrum,exploring immigration issues from birthright and nativism to border security and due process.  Titled “Political, Economic and Social Implications to Chicago and Illinois,” Mr. Brody’s panel will focus on issues facing the city of Chicago and the State of Illinois, from demography, to business development, to international relationships.  Panelists will include Juliana Kerr of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and Rob Paral ofRob Paral & Associates.  

Other featured speakers during the two-day conference will include Hon. Ruben Castillo, chief judge of the Northern District of Illinois; Hon. Diane Wood, chief judge for the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals; Hon. Richard Posner of the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals; and Hon. Dana Leigh Marks of the National Association of Immigration Judges.  Other speakers will include representatives from the Department of Homeland Security, Northwestern University, Stanford Law School, the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, the University of Chicago and the National Immigrant Justice Center. 

The conference is sponsored by the Seventh Circuit Bar Association Foundation, and Mr. Brody is president of the Association.   It will be held on March 3-4, 2016, at the Thorne Auditorium Northwestern Pritzker School of Law.  Up to 12 CLE credits will be available.

Mr. Brody is co-chair of the firm’s Class Action Practice.  Clients turn to him for help with class action matters related to a variety of issues, including securities, antitrust, torts, contract claims, consumer fraud, fiduciary duties, and other statutory and regulatory claims.
