“The Biggest Patent Cases of 2015-2016: Looking Back, Looking Ahead,” Jenner & Block

Jenner & Block Partner Paul M. Smith, chair of the firm’s Appellate and Supreme Court Practice, will join Partners Matthew S. Hellman, Sara Tonnies Horton and Paul D. Margolis for a CLE webinar that will explore significant patent cases from the Federal Circuit and US Supreme Court’s previous and upcoming terms.  Titled “The Biggest Patent Cases of 2015-2015: Looking Back, Looking Ahead,” the webinar will focus on the aftermath of Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc. v. Sandoz, Inc.; Commil USA v. Cisco Systems; Kimble v. Marvel Enterprise; and cases headed to the Supreme Court.  The webinar will be held from noon-1 pm CT on September 17.

Mr. Smith has had an active Supreme Court practice for three decades, including oral arguments in 16 Supreme Court cases involving matters ranging from free speech and civil rights to civil procedure.

Mr. Hellman is a litigator who has contributed to several cases tried before the United States Supreme Court and presented numerous arguments in the Courts of Appeals and trial courts.  His cases involve a variety of issues such as intellectual property, entertainment law, and civil liberties.

Ms. Horton concentrates in complex civil litigation focusing on patent litigation.  She has significant trial experience and has litigated patent infringement cases concerning pharmaceuticals, polymers, food technology, alloys, electronics and farming technology.

Mr. Margolis is a litigator who focuses on intellectual property.  Clients seek his help with patent infringement actions in a wide range of scientific fields, including chemical, pharmaceutical, biomedical, electronics, mechanical and agricultural.
