"When Internal Auditors and Compliance Officers Can Become Whistleblowers," D.C. Bar

Jenner & Block Partners Larry P. Ellsworth and Christian Bartholomew will participate in a panel discussion before the D.C. Bar on issues arising from the recent, first whistleblower award to a compliance officer by the Securities and Exchange Commission.  The panel will examine issues regarding if and when corporate employees, whose job it is to investigate and internally report corporate misconduct, should also be eligible for substantial whistleblower awards under the Dodd-Frank Act.  The program will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 from noon to 2:00 pm at the D.C. Bar Conference Center, 1101 K Street NW, Washington DC.

Larry is a partner in the firm's Litigation Department and a member of its Securities Litigation and Enforcement and Class Action Practices.  He is a former assistant chief litigation counsel for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Trial Unit.  Larry is chairman of the DC Bar’s Broker-Dealer Regulation and SEC Enforcement Committee and previously served as Chairman of the DC Bar’s Corporation, Finance and Securities Law Section and the Administrative Law Section.

Christian is also a partner in the firm's Litigation Department and a member of its Securities Litigation and Enforcement and Class Action Practices.  He was senior trial counsel for the SEC’s Southeast Regional Office.
