Jenner & Block Partner Reid J. Schar spoke at the American Conference Institute’s 6th annual FCPA Boot Camp. Titled “The Rise in Domestic Bribery,” Reid’s panel examined the increase in bribery and corruption and compared and contrasted the enforcement trends of FCPA regulations for multinational companies. Reid, the former prosecutor who led the case against former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, offered his insight on topics including lessons learned from recent high-profile cases, potential penalties for individuals and companies and warning signs where further investigation may be required. His session was held on June 25, the second day of the two-day conference in Chicago.
Reid is co-chair of the White Collar Defense and Investigations Practice. A former assistant U.S. attorney, he tried more than 20 criminal cases, many involving sophisticated fraud and financing issues.
