“EPA Action on GHGs: What to Expect and How to Prepare,” Electric Utility Consultants, Inc. Web Conference

Jenner & Block Partner Gabrielle Sigel will present at an Electric Utility Consultants Inc. ("EUCI") Web Conference titled “EPA Action on GHGs: What to Expect and How to Prepare,” to be held December 3, 2009 from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time.  EUCI provides training for electric utility companies and related industries.

Ms. Sigel will present an analysis of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s latest Greenhouse Gas regulatory initiatives, including under the Clean Air Act.  She will be joined by Sube Vel, an accredited lead GHG verifier in California and senior environmental engineer, who will discuss how the EPA's new mandatory GHG reporting regulations will affect energy and related industries.  Among other things, Ms. Sigel and Mr. Vel will present an overview of the status of GHG regulation at the start of the new Administration, and describe all the changes proposed and implemented for future GHG regulation, both by the EPA and by Congress. In addition, they will recommend practical guidelines on how practitioners can prepare for this new regulatory and legislative environment, including near-term deadlines and how the new reporting requirements differ from existing federal and state programs.

Ms. Sigel is Co-Chair of the Jenner & Block’s Climate and Clean Technology Law Practice, a founding member of the Firm’s Environmental, Energy and Natural Resources Law Practice, and a member of the Environmental Litigation Practice.  Ms. Sigel regularly represents clients in complex environmental statutory, common law, Superfund enforcement, and cost recovery actions.  Her work at the forefront of climate and clean technology law includes advising a multinational corporation on how to address climate change issues, including working to develop definitions, inventory, and programs for greenhouse gas emission reduction. Her work in the renewable energy field includes representation of a power company with respect to a unique solar project, and litigation and other advice regarding development of wind power projects.
