Jenner & Block Partner Howard S. Suskin will deliver a presentation for Practising Law Institute (PLI) on July 1, 2014, entitled “Haliburton v. Erica P. John Fund: What’s the Practical Impact of the Supreme Court’s Opinion on Securities Class Actions?” The presentation will discuss the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent ruling that declined to overturn the fraud on the market presumption but clarified how defendants may rebut that presumption at the class certification stage. Howard will address the practical consequences for class certification motions and oppositions, from the defense perspective. The one-hour webcast will begin at 1 p.m. ET.
Howard is co-chair of the firm’s Class Action Practice and Securities Litigation and Enforcement Practice. He has substantial first-chair experience representing individuals and business entities in civil and criminal securities matters, including class actions alleging securities fraud and misrepresentation claims, derivative actions claiming breach of fiduciary duty, contests for corporate control, insider trading investigations and broker-dealer issues.
