Partner Donald S. Horvath spoke recently at a seminar sponsored by Lorman Education Services. Don’s presentation, titled “Change Orders in Illinois: General Overview of Construction Contract Provisions Relating to Change Orders,” focused on effective drafting of construction contracts to shift the risk for, and reduce the likelihood of, change orders in construction projects. The session involved an interactive discussion with owners’ representatives, contractors, architects and engineers on how to effectively draft contracts so that the liability for change orders in construction projects is equitably apportioned among the parties. Titled “Change Orders in Construction Contracts in Illinois,” the seminar was held on May 2, 2014, in Chicago.
