Jenner & Block Partner Reid J. Schar spoke at the recent Corporate Counsel Institute held at Northwestern University School of Law.  Drawing on his experience as the assistant U.S. attorney who successfully prosecuted former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich on corruption charges, Reid explored issues and strategies related to ethical leadership in today’s business environment.  Titled “Ethical Challenges and Responsibilities of Leaders,” topics covered in his October 3 session included setting the tone for compliance and the important role of leaders in fostering an atmosphere of ethical and transparent behavior that adheres to the model of professional conduct and creates a strong culture that supports an organization's success. The Institute offers general counsel a forum to discuss the unique challenges facing in-house counsel.

Reid is co-chair of the White Collar Defense and Investigations Practice.  A former assistant U.S. attorney, he tried more than 20 criminal cases, many involving sophisticated fraud and financing issues.  Clients regularly turn to Reid with their most significant white collar matters and investigations as well as complex commercial litigation matters.
