Jenner & Block Partner Mark A. Harris spoke at the American Bar Association Section of Litigation Annual CLE Conference on April 25. Titled “Preparing for the Spotlight: Increased Scrutiny on the Private Equity Industry and How to Avoid Coming Pitfalls,” the session examined new SEC registration requirements and current SEC and Department of Justice investigations affecting the private equity industry. The panel offered insight into how to monitor activities and the controls that should be put in place to prepare for increased regulatory focus. He and other panelists shed light on the SEC’s interest in the private equity industry, the risks involved and how to mitigate those risks. The two-day conference was held at the J.W. Marriott in Chicago.
Mark is co-chair of the Private Equity/Investment Funds Practice. He advises private equity funds and their portfolio companies, on mergers and acquisitions, securities, finance, corporate governance, start-up and general corporate matters.
