Jenner & Block Partner Amanda S. Amert will speak on “Disability and Health Claims in the Wake of MetLife v. Glenn: A Focus on Defending Welfare Benefit Cases and Retiree Health Benefit Litigation” at an American Conference Institute conference in New York, NY on October 20, 2009.  Ms. Amert will address employers' ability to amend or terminate welfare benefits, the application of pension benefit principles to welfare benefit cases, and the Supreme Court's upcoming review of the Second Circuit's decision in Frommert v. Conkright.

Ms. Amert is a partner in the Firm's Litigation Department. She is Chair of the ERISA Litigation Practice and a member of the Complex Commercial Litigation Practice.  Ms. Amert has a wide variety of business litigation, appellate and arbitration experience.  Her experience in business litigation ranges from contract disputes to intellectual property issues to employment litigation.  Ms. Amert’s ERISA litigation experience includes representing employers in federal courts around the country at the trial and appellate levels, in both individual and class-action lawsuits, as well as counseling clients about how to avoid benefits litigation.
