“The Financial Crisis and the ‘Revolving Door’,” New York City Bar Association Committee on Government Ethics Committee on Banking Law

Jenner & Block Partner Thomas J. Perrelli spoke at a recent event titled “The Financial Crisis and the ‘Revolving Door’,” sponsored by the New York City Bar Association Committee on Government Ethics on Banking Law.  Mr. Perrelli and other panelists examined questions of ethical rules for regulators and prosecutors moving into the private sector and for private-sector personnel going into government; whether the flow of people and expertise between government and the private sector – the so-called “revolving door” – has limited government’s response to the financial crisis or improved it; and whether the rules need reform.

Mr. Perrelli is a nationally recognized litigator who re-joined Jenner & Block as a partner in 2012 after serving for three years as Associate Attorney General of the United States, the third highest-ranking official in the U.S. Department of Justice.  He is the founder and Chair of the Firm’s Government Controversies and Public Policy Litigation Practice.  Drawing upon a wealth of experience in government service, the Washington, DC political environment and private practice, Mr. Perrelli represents businesses, governmental entities, and their leaders at the intersection of law, business, and government regulation, providing high-level strategic advice, both litigation and transactional, as well as regulatory compliance guidance and public policy counsel.
