“Claim & Insurance Considerations in the Wake of Super-storm Sandy,” Jenner & Block, Aon, Navigant, New York, NY

Jenner & Block Partners Matthew L. Jacobs, Linda D. Kornfeld and Lorelie S. Masters were instrumental in organizing a program titled “Claim & Insurance Considerations in the Wake of Super-storm Sandy,” which will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from 4:30-6 p.m. EST.  Ms. Kornfeld and Ms. Masters will speak during the panel presentation, which is jointly sponsored by Jenner & Block, Aon and Navigant, and will take place in Jenner & Block’s New York office.  The program will be followed by a cocktail reception. 

The panelists will discuss important issues confronting policyholders in the wake of the storm, including the process for handling and presenting insurance claims, complex coverage issues that policyholders are confronting and approaches for evaluating and expediting loss quantification and claim settlement.  The program will provide a unique opportunity to obtain real time answers to difficult questions about all aspects of the claim process regarding damage from Sandy.

Mr. Jacobs is a member of the Firm’s Insurance Litigation and Counseling and Reinsurance Practices.  He is a litigator who handles complex, multi-party insurance coverage matters in state and federal courts and also regularly advises Fortune 500 companies in the placement of various types of insurance coverage.  Mr. Jacobs has been recognized by clients and peers in Chambers USA Client’s Guide for Insurance and the Legal Media Group’s Guide to the World’s Leading Insurance and Reinsurance Lawyers.  In 2010, he was recognized as “Author of the Year – Insurance USA” by theLexology Legal Writing Awards.  Mr. Jacobs has been named a Washington, DC “Super Lawyer,” and among Washington, DC’s “Best Lawyers.”

Ms. Kornfeld is a member of the Firm’s Insurance Litigation and Counseling Practice.  She represents corporate and individual policyholders in high-stakes insurance coverage litigation.  She has helped clients ranging from telecommunications companies and real estate developers to manufacturers and nonprofit organizations obtain substantial recoveries in a variety of insurance matters.  She also provides strategic counseling to senior executives and in-house counsel on how to mitigate risk and maximize their insurance recoveries.
