Jenner & Block Partner David M. Greenwald chaired a session titled “Wind, Water and Quake: Coverage in the Wake of Catastrophes” on October 4 at the International Bar Association Conference in Dublin. Mr. Greenwald’s session addressed the complex insurance coverage issues that arise in the wake of catastrophes,such as hurricanes and earthquakes, including limitations on coverage for specific perils, the scope of contingent business interruption coverage, and recommendations for how the insured, broker and insurer can work together to provide the coverage that the policy intended. With more than5,000 lawyers and legal professionals in attendance, the week-long conference at Convention Centre Dublin represented the largest gathering of the international legal community.
Mr. Greenwald is Co-Chair of the Firm’s Reinsurance Practice and a member of the Insurance Litigation and Counseling, International Arbitration, and Bankruptcy practices. He focuses on complex disputes relating to insurance and reinsurance coverage, structured finance, bankruptcy, internal investigations, government contracts, and other types of complex disputes. Mr. Greenwald litigates in courts throughout the country and represents clients in domestic and international arbitrations. He is the Editor of Jenner & Block’s Attorney-Client Privilege Update online resource center and the Firm’s Protecting Confidential Legal Information handbook, and he is co-editor of Testimonial Privileges (Thomson Reuters 2012). Mr. Greenwald is a frequent speaker on topics relating to privilege, ethics, e-discovery, and insurance and reinsurance. He is Special Projects Officer for the International Bar Association’s Insurance Committee.
