Jenner & Block Partners Steven R. Englund and Timothy J. Barron will speak at the annual Corporate Intellectual Property Conference being held July 15, 2009 at the Hilton Chicago hotel. The conference is hosted by Law Bulletin Seminars and includes 4 MCLE Credits and 1 hour PMCLE.
Mr. Barron will speak on a panel addressing the business implications of major patent case law, including injunctions, nonobviousness and business method patents. Mr. Englund will speak at a session discussing updates in copyright law, including insights regarding the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
Mr. Barron is a member of Jenner & Block's Intellectual Property Practice, and focuses his practice on patent litigation. He has represented clients in complex patent disputes involving technologies as diverse as medical products, pharmaceuticals, computer networking devices, chemical processes and electronic devices. Mr. Barron’s most recent work includes representation of the leading manufacturer of contact lenses in patent litigation pending in multiple jurisdictions.
Mr. Englund is a member of Jenner & Block’s Creative Content Practice. Mr. Englund's practice focuses primarily on the use of music and other entertainment content in the digital environment and the application of copyright law to new technologies, as well as on more traditional copyright matters. For over 15 years he has helped shape copyright law for the digital environment by representing the U.S. recording industry in the industry negotiations leading to the enactment of such legislation as the Audio Home Recording Act, the Digital Performance Right in Sound Recordings Act, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, the Small Webcaster Settlement Act and the Copyright Royalty and Distribution Reform Act.
