"Resolving Complex D&O Insurance Claims with Multiple Layers of Coverage," Practising Law Institute Teleconference

Jenner & Block Partner Matthew L. Jacobs will be the only speaker and will lead a July 9 PLI teleconference titled, “Resolving Complex D&O Insurance Claims With Multiple Layers of Coverage.”  The teleconference will address “Depletion of Underlying Limits” provisions in excess D&O policies that can hold up the settlement of large D&O claims when a primary carrier pays less than its limits of liability to resolve a disputed claim.  Mr. Jacobs also will discuss the application of the various policy provisions in various forums across the country.  In particular, Mr. Jacobs will cover the Comerica, Qualcomm, Zeig, Pereira, Eliot and HLTH Corporation cases.

Mr. Jacobs is a member of the Firm’s Insurance Litigation and Counseling and Reinsurance Practices.  He is responsible for complex, multi-party insurance coverage litigation matters in state and federal courts, and he regularly advises corporations on the availability of insurance coverage for a wide variety of claims, including those related to directors and officers liability, errors and omissions, mortgage lending practices, mold and water damage, business interruption losses, product liability, mutual fund late-trading and market timing lawsuits and regulatory investigations and environmental matters.  Mr. Jacobs has written extensively on issues of insurance coverage for D&O liabilities and related matters, has spoken at over 75 conferences, and has chaired over a dozen more, both domestically and internationally, in the past 20 years on various insurance coverage issues.
