Managing IP honored a Jenner & Block team led by Partners Debbie L. Berman and Wade A. Thomson for their appellate victory on behalf of client Hetronic International in a trademark and trade secrets dispute. The victory won in the “Impact Case of the Year” category at an event on April 7 in New York. The Managing IP Awards celebrate the firms, individuals, and companies behind the most innovative and challenging intellectual property work, as well as those driving the international IP market.
In Hetronic International v Hetronic Germany, a jury awarded $113 million for Hetronic International, Inc. against two of its former European distributors for selling copycat products. Hetronic was also granted an injunction that prevented the distributors from selling infringing products in every country in which Hetronic markets or sells its products. In 2021, the 10th Circuit affirmed.
Others on the cross-office team included Partners Laura E. B. Hulce, Gianni P. Servodidio and Senior Paralegal Wendy Kachingwe and Paralegal Julie Hartl. As legal issues arose, Partner Clifford W. Berlow and Associate Grace C. Signorelli-Cassady provided important legal research and analysis as did Associate Miriam J. Wayne. Appellate and Supreme Court Co-Chair and Partner Matthew S. Hellman worked on a preclusion motion with legal research support from Associate Christina T. Lopez. Others on the team included Associate Victoria Hall-Palerm, Partners Lauren J.
