Jenner & Block

The National Law Journal Once Again Names Firm to “Appellate Hot List”

For the 12th consecutive year, The National Law Journal has named Jenner & Block to its Appellate Hot List.  “The firms tackled novel issues and undoubtedly overcame unprecedented challenges over the past year, boasting high-profile and high-stakes wins in the nation’s highest appellate courts,” The NLJ says of the firms on the list. Partner Ian Heath Gershengorn is featured in a companion piece to the report. He discusses the group’s US Supreme Court victory in McGirt, a groundbreaking decision in which the Court, by a 5-4 vote, held that the Muscogee (Creek) Nation’s reservation endures—which meant that the state of Oklahoma lacked jurisdiction to prosecute his client, Jimcy McGirt. “Collaboration and teamwork are the keys to success; we have an extraordinarily experienced team at Jenner & Block, and we make sure we tap into that broad range of knowledge and talent, rather than rely on one or two people to carry the load,” Mr. Gershengorn notes.

The Appellate and Supreme Court Practice is led by Partner Ian Heath Gershengorn and co-chaired by Partners Jessica Ring Amunson, Michael T. Brody, and Matthew S. Hellman.
