The Daily Journal recognized Partner Brent Caslin as one of its “Top Trade Secrets Lawyers” for 2020. In a profile, the publication highlighted Mr. Caslin’s recent successes, including a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction obtained on behalf of a client against four former employees of the client’s business who had left the company and misappropriated confidential data.
The profile also notes how a case that Mr. Caslin investigated and then initiated on behalf of Epic Systems received a significant affirmance in August of a trade secret verdict from the Seventh Circuit, which upheld $140 million in compensatory damages and left the door open for another $140 million in punitive damages once remanded to the trial court. Mr. Caslin credited the firm’s teamwork in obtaining the jury verdict and the appellate decision, noting the key roles that Partners Michael T. Brody, Rick Richmond, Nick G. Saros and Julie A. Shepard held throughout the trial and appeal.
A co-founder of the Los Angeles office, Mr. Caslin is co-chair of the firm’s Trade Secrets and Restrictive Covenants Practice and serves as a member of the leadership team for the firm’s premier Complex Commercial Litigation Practice.
