Jenner & Block

The National Law Journal Again Recognizes the Firm’s “Appellate Luminaries”

For the 11th consecutive year, The National Law Journal has named Jenner & Block to its Appellate Hot List.  “The appellate luminaries featured in our 2019 special report won key matters before the US Supreme Court and federal courts of appeals, staying true to their practice philosophies along the way,” The NLJ says of the firms on the list.  Partner Ishan K. Bhabha is featured in a companion piece to the special report.  He discusses the group’s Seventh Circuit victory for FanDuel, a significant case in which the court ruled that sports operators do not violate individual athletes’ “right of publicity” when they use athletes’ names and statistics in fantasy sports games.  “Our diverse team collaborated closely on this matter, and we achieved this win because of the outstanding and equal contributions of each team member, from the most junior associate to the senior partner,” Mr. Bhabha observes.

In addition to the FanDuel victory, The NLJ recognized the firm for our successes before the US Supreme Court, several circuit courts of appeal, the Federal Circuit, and several state appellate courts.

The Appellate and Supreme Court Practice is led by Partner Ian Heath Gershengorn and co-chaired by Partners Jessica Ring Amunson, Michael T. Brody and Matthew S. Hellman.
