Jenner & Block

Firm Again Earns Gold Standard Certification from the Women In Law Empowerment Forum

The Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF) awarded Jenner & Block its 2019 Gold Standard Certification, making the firm one of 45 honored in the United States and among only 14 that met all six criteria for inclusion. This marks the sixth time that Jenner & Block has been recertified by WILEF, further reinforcing our core value of diversity and inclusion.

WILEF grants the certification to major firms (more than 300 lawyers in the United States and more than 100 lawyers in the UK) that meet criteria concerning the number of women among equity partners, in firm leadership positions and in the ranks of their most highly compensated partners.
To receive the certification, firms must have women represent 20% of equity partners or, alternatively, 33% of the lawyers becoming equity partners during the past 12 months.  In addition, they must meet at least three of the following five criteria:

  • 15% of firm and US branch office heads are women;
  • 20% of the firm’s primary governance committee are women;
  • 20% of the firm’s compensation committee or its equivalent are women;
  • 15% of the top half of the firm’s equity partners in terms of compensation are women; and
  • 7% of women equity partners are women of color or 3.5% of women equity partners are LGBT.

Launched in New York in 2007, WILEF was founded to educate and provide networking opportunities for women in law firms. Betiayn Tursi, co-founder and global chair, has grown WILEF from a niche market to a global empowerment forum.  “The dream is now a reality,” she says. “It’s all about giving women in law the toolbox to become leaders.”
