The Recorder recognizes Jenner & Block Partner Julie A. Shepard in its list of “2018 Women Leaders in Tech Law.” The Recorder is a California-based publication that provides daily news on legal, business and technology trends shaping the practice of law. Every year, the publication honors the recent work of California-based women lawyers who practice in the technology industry. The lawyers selected are handling deals that are reshaping the industry and leading cases that are setting precedent. Honorees will be celebrated at a reception in San Francisco on November 14.
In a profile of Ms. Shepard, The Recorder highlights her copyright victory for Fox Television Stations at the Ninth Circuit against FilmOn X (aka Aereokiller) and other affiliated companies that were streaming broadcast television signals over the internet without permission. “One of the best parts about working in the tech sector is partnering with clients as they forge new paths and advising them along the way on the legal aspects of their developments,” Ms. Shepard tells The Recorder.
Ms. Shepard is a partner in the firm’s Litigation Practice and a member of the Content, Media & Entertainment, Intellectual Property and Antitrust and Competition Law Practices. She leads the charge on ground-breaking technology and intellectual property matters in the rapidly evolving area of content distribution. Ms. Shepard was also recognized by The Recorder in 2016 and 2017 and is one of only 30 women to receive the honor.
