Special Counsel Heidi L. Wachs has been named a “Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Trailblazer” by The National Law Journal. In her profile, NLJ highlights Ms. Wachs’ “untraditional path to cybersecurity law.” She handled public relations for high-tech companies, attended law school and went on to work for “a nonprofit membership organization for IT professionals at higher education institutions, where she combined her interests in technology and public policy work.” Noting that bringing all stakeholders together to mitigate risk is key, Ms. Wachs is quoted as saying that “people are finally realizing it’s not just an IT issue. There is a lot more cross-function collaboration.”
The “Trailblazers” series was introduced by NLJ in 2013 to recognize lawyers who have “moved the needle” in selected practice areas. Jenner & Block lawyers who have been selected previously (and the practice areas in which they were recognized) are Neil M. Barofsky (Regulatory and Compliance), Andrew H. Bart (Intellectual Property), James H. Feldman (Divorce, Trusts and Estates), E. Lynn Grayson (Energy and Environmental), Joseph P. Gromacki (Mergers and Acquisitions), Anne Samuels Kenney (Energy and Environmental), Rick Richmond (Intellectual Property), Gabrielle Sigel (Energy and Environmental), Steven M. Siros (Energy and Environmental), Richard L. Stone (Intellectual Property), Allison A. Torrence (Energy and Environmental) and Anton R. Valukas (Litigation).
