Jenner & Block’s Chicago office is one of six firms ranked among Law360’s “Illinois Powerhouse” list. Law firms that made the list “rode Chicago’s real estate boom, navigated transactions in its burgeoning private equity sector and helped build that city’s reputation as a class action center.” In its profile of the firm, Law360 highlighted the firm’s significant transactions within the past year, including the $965 million sale of Chicago’s NES Rentals and the $1 billion common stock offering for US Foods. The profile also noted high-profile litigation such as the United Airlines investigation, the victory for the popular fantasy sports website FanDuel and a patent case regarding ownership of the groundbreaking gene-editing technology CRISPR.
“I think it’s fair to say that clients increasingly look to law firms that have specific experience in an industry,” Corporate Practice Chair Joseph P. Gromacki is quoted saying in the profile. “And that’s why we’ve focused on some of the industry areas we have.” Litigation Practice Chair Craig C. Martin is quoted saying, “You may be the person who’s leading the charge … but you’re leading these incredible lawyers who have been practicing 10 to 15 years. We’re able to tap into basically a great wealth of knowledge and information within the firm and great lawyers.”
In sharing his vision for the Chicago office five years from now, firm Managing Partner Terrence J. Truax said: “it’s to continue to compete in this very, very competitive, dynamic, ever-changing marketplace. But to compete in a way that is true to who we are.”
