Jenner & Block Partners Terri L. Mascherin and Catherine L. Steege are recognized in Crain’s Chicago Business’ inaugural list of the “Most Influential Women Lawyers in Chicago.” The list features only 60 women, who “represent an impressive cross-section of the Chicago-area legal community.”
Ms. Mascherin is a partner in the firm's Litigation Department, co-chair of the Professional Responsibility Practice, and a member of the Complex Commercial Litigation and International Arbitration Practices. She is also a fellow of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers. “In more than 30 years with Jenner & Block, Mascherin has tried 28 cases, capturing 19 trial victories and several favorable settlements mid-trial. In addition, she served as president of the Chicago Bar Association in 2010-2011,” observes the Crain’s profile.
Ms. Steege is a partner and co-chairs both the Restructuring and Bankruptcy and the Bankruptcy Litigation Practices. She is also a fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy. The Crain’s profile highlights her successes including, among others, protecting benefits of 40,000 retired employees of American Airlines; achieving a nine-figure trial judgment in a dispute involving a failed Illinois casino; and successfully arguing before the US Supreme Court in Wellness International network v. Sharif. Her “string of litigation successes have had far-reaching impacts on bankruptcy law,” the profile says.
