For the 12th consecutive year, Jenner & Block has received a 100 percent score on the Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.
“We are pleased that our dedication to equality and inclusiveness is continually recognized by the Human Rights Campaign,” said Susan J. Kohlmann, chair of Jenner & Block’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, member of the Policy Committee, and managing partner of the firm's New York office. “Our firm takes pride in our commitment to diversity and social justice as well as our efforts to provide an inclusive working environment. For decades, we have been a champion for LGBT diversity in both the legal profession and the community. We believe our dedication to inclusiveness and diversity underscores our core values and allows us to provide a platform for all our people to be successful.”
The 2017 CEI rates 887 businesses in the report. Scores are determined by an evaluation of LGBT-related policies including non-discrimination policies concerning sexual orientation and gender identity, domestic partner and transgender-inclusive benefits, organizational LGBT competency, and the business’ public commitment to the LGBT community. Fortune magazine’s 1000 largest publicly traded businesses (2015 Fortune 1000) and The American Lawyer’s top 200 revenue-grossing firms (2015 AmLaw200) are invited to participate in the survey. The CEI 2017 officially rates 156 law firms. Jenner & Block was the first Chicago-headquartered law firm and the fourth nationwide to receive the HRC’s 100% rating (in 2005).
