Jenner & Block Partners Rick Richmond and Richard L. Stone have been named to the Daily Journal’s list of the “Top 100 Lawyers in California.” This marks the second year in a row that Mr. Richmond has made the list and the third time in the past four years that Mr. Stone has been selected. Profiles of the two appeared in a special supplement to the publication on September 21, 2016.
According to the Daily Journal, the list honors the 100 California lawyers who are doing the most cutting-edge work with the greatest impact in litigation, regulation and corporate transactions.
Mr. Richmond was recognized in the area of trade secrets. In his profile, the Daily Journal highlighted his leadership of the firm’s team in Epic v. Tata Consultancy Services, winning a $940 million verdict for our client – the largest trade secrets verdict in Wisconsin history and one of the largest trade secrets verdicts in US history. The profile noted that Mr. Richmond, who told the publication that he loves trial work, has tried two dozen cases and argued nearly 20 appeals.
Mr. Stone was recognized in the area of intellectual property, media and entertainment. His profile focused on his lead role representing News Corp. subsidiary Move Inc. and subsidiaries of the National Association of Realtors in their complicated trade secrets case against competitor Zillow. After, in Mr. Stone's words, a “wild ride,” including uncovering computer forensic evidence that ultimately resulted in an adverse inference instruction sanction against one of the defendants, the case settled for $130 million in favor of our clients on the first day of trial.
In August, both lawyers were included on the Daily Journal’s list of the 2016 “Top IP Lawyers in California.”
