Jenner & Block Partner Julie Ann Shepard is among only 65 lawyers recognized in The Recorder’s 2016 list of “Women Leaders in Tech Law,” an annual guide to California-based women who “handle game-changing, law-shaping, market-moving work in and around the technology sector.”  The Recorder highlights Julie’s work on the team that secured a $940 million trade secrets verdict from a Wisconsin jury for healthcare software company Epic Systems Corp. against Tata Consultancy Services.  The verdict in April represents one of the largest trade secrets verdicts in US history and perhaps the largest verdict of any kind in Wisconsin.  For its profile of Ms. Shepard, The Recorder poses several questions about her interests and career.  Asked what can be done to tackle tech’s gender gap, she responds:  “Commitment and engagement of leadership plays a critical role in helping to create change. Diverse teams should be recognized and rewarded, as studies show that such teams yield superior results. Benchmarking is critical to measuring progress and keeping the public spotlight shining on the diversity gap and making management accountable.”
