Jenner & Block Corporate Practice Chair Joseph P. Gromacki has been named to The National Law Journal’s inaugural list of “M&A and Antitrust Trailblazers” – characterized by the NLJ as “innovative thinkers and leading practitioners” who “have moved the needle in mergers & acquisitions and antitrust law.”
A profile of Mr. Gromacki in a special NLJ supplement released on September 28, 2015, focuses on his recent work on complex divestitures for Archer Daniels Midland and his longtime representation of General Motors, including his lead role in the company’s restructuring from its Section 363 sale to the historic US$23.1 billion IPO of its newly formed entity in 2010. The article also mentions Mr. Gromacki’s representation of Sam Zell in the Tribune Company going-private transaction.
In the profile, Mr. Gromacki tells the NLJ that his attraction to M&A work stemmed from his exposure to the business arena between his undergraduate studies and law school. “M&A is a value-add proposition. It’s two parties looking to do something together that equates to more than they could do separately,” Mr. Gromacki said.
The article also notes that Mr. Gromacki foresees tremendous growth in middle-market M&A. It quotes him as saying, “Its growth is an indicator that the economy is truly on the upswing.”
