Jenner & Block Partners Richard L. Stone and Steven B. Fabrizio have been selected as 2012 “Power Lawyers,” by The Hollywood Reporter (THR) in its sixth annual recognition of the top 100 entertainment lawyers in America.  Mr. Stone and Mr. Fabrizio are the second and third Jenner & Block lawyers to be named to this prestigious list.  Current United States Solicitor General Donald Verrilli was included on the 2009 list for his work on the landmark MGM Studios, Inc. v. Grokster, Ltd., when he was a partner at the Firm.

In what the American Bar Association has dubbed a “complete list” of insider entertainment law, the ranking is compiled by Hollywood Reporter entertainment law journalists who look at the biggest deals and cases of the past year.  Selections include the industry’s top talent dealmakers, litigation specialists, legal “troubleshooters” and corporate dealmakers.

Both Mr. Stone and Mr. Fabrizio were included in the litigation category.  In their profiles in the “Power Lawyers” issue, THR noted that “Steve argues for the major studios and record companies in an effort to shape copyright law.”  It highlighted Mr. Stone’s representation of News Corp.’s Fox Broadcasting, reporting that he earned them as a client 15 years ago when he worked through the weekend for them, during a dispute with Charter Communication.

The publication also selected Firm client Viacom’s general counsel Michael Fricklas for its 2012 “Raising the Bar” Award, noting his anti-piracy work.  His profile specifically mentioned Viacom’s $1 billion lawsuit against Google and YouTube, in which Jenner & Block is representing the company.
