Transactional Department Rotation
During a rotation, a summer associate will spend two or more weeks working with a team of lawyers in a particular department.  In the Corporate Department, for example, you will be assigned to a deal team and participate in all aspects of the deal, such as:

  • Attending internal strategy meetings
  • Drafting and reviewing deal documents
  • Working on due diligence
  • Participating in client meetings
  • Preparing for the closing

Litigation Case Rotation
In this rotation, summer associates join a case team and work with the team in the role of a junior associate.  You experience the role of a junior associate on a busy litigation matter.  This provides an excellent opportunity for summer associates to participate in a broad range of experiences. By the end of the summer, you get a real sense for the type of work you will perform as a junior associate. Past summer associates have had the opportunity to:

  • Attend and participate in team meetings
  • Meet and interview clients and witnesses
  • Draft documents and briefs
  • Conduct research
  • Prepare witness outlines, participate in witness preparation meetings
  • Attend court proceedings

More information about the rotations program is provided to you during your Summer Program orientation.
