Jenner & Block focuses on recruiting and hiring strategies that reach a diverse group of lawyers who meet or exceed our high professional standards. These efforts are overseen by the firm’s Hiring Committee, which consists of a diverse group of partners and associates. We also employ a full-time Associate Director of Talent Development, Diversity & Inclusion to assist in diverse lawyer recruitment, development and retention.
The Hiring Committee ensures that on-campus recruiting includes schools with diverse student bodies. Members of the Hiring Committee attend job fairs and other events to meet minority law students, clerks, government lawyers and laterals. For example, firm lawyers regularly attend the career fair sponsored by the National Lesbian and Gay Law Association during the annual Lavender Law Conference, the Cook County Bar Association career fair and the ABA-sponsored CLEO job fair conference.
Our lawyers regularly visit law school campuses, building relationships with student associations and speaking at student events. We also host seminars and receptions for various student associations including the Black Women Lawyers’ Association and other diverse groups.
In addition to expanding our pool of highly qualified diverse applicants, the firm has implemented training for our lawyers who interview on campus to ensure that we successfully communicate to candidates that Jenner & Block has an inclusive environment and is a good place for diverse lawyers to grow and succeed in the legal profession.
