David A. Savner is a corporate attorney who counsels clients on mergers, acquisitions, buyouts and other corporate transactions. He returned to the Jenner & Block in 2010 after serving more than 12 years as the chief legal officer for defense contractor General Dynamics. In that role, he was instrumental in helping transform the company from a $4 billion enterprise into a $31 billion global leader in the defense industry. Clients benefit from his extensive experience both in the private sector and as the former Chair of Jenner & Block’s Corporate Department.
As Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary for General Dynamics, Mr. Savner led an 80-attorney legal team in the company’s acquisition of more than 50 businesses worldwide, including the defense businesses of GTE Government Systems Corporation and Motorola, and the purchase of Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation. He also counseled the company in the creation of General Dynamics’ European land systems group. The value of key acquisitions made during Mr. Savner’s tenure at the company is more than $20 billion.
Mr. Savner has been recognized by Legal500 in the area of mergers, acquisitions and buyouts and received an alumni merit award from Northwestern University. Mr. Savner’s community work includes serving on the board of directors for the Noble Charter Schools Foundation.
