Jenner & Block

Firm Earns Perfect Rating on Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index for Eighth Year in a Row

Jenner & Block has once again been included in the list of Best Places to Work by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC).  The important acknowledgment is given to top companies that support equality for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees.  This year marks the eighth year in a row that Jenner & Block has achieved a 100 percent rating on the HRC’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI), earning a spot on the list.

Founded in 1980, HRC is the country’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve LGBT equality.  The CEI, initiated in 2002, is a tool used to rate how American businesses are treating their LGBT employees.  In 2005, Jenner & Block was the first Chicago-headquartered law firm – and only the fourth law firm nationwide – to receive the HRC 100 percent rating.

“We are very pleased that our efforts continue to be recognized by HRC,” said Jenner & Block Managing Partner Susan C. Levy.  “Our firm takes great pride in its efforts to promote a diverse workplace and an inclusive environment, as well as supporting diversity within the legal profession, the community and the greater society.  These efforts reflect and underscore our core values and provide an opportunity for all to succeed.  We are proud to have been a leader in our industry and are equally proud that many other law firms are also now on the list.”

The Index evaluates policies, practices and diversity efforts relating to LGBT workers.  It considers non-discrimination policies, benefits, diversity training and other internal resources for LGBT employees, as well as external support for LGBT consumers and job seekers.
