Jenner & Block Partner Daniel J. Weiss has been selected for inclusion in this year’s Law Bulletin Publishing Company list of “40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty” to watch.
This prestigious annual list, now in its 13th year, honors 40 of the “most talented young attorneys working in Illinois,” according to Law Bulletin. These attorneys have demonstrated “intelligence, passion, success in the office, a desire to help community and, most importantly, a willingness to work hard at one of the country’s most important professions.”
Mr. Weiss was selected from more than 1,250 nominations for attorneys throughout the state. His profile appears in the “40 Under Forty 2012” supplement to the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer. The feature notes his key role in the Firm’s wins – both trial and appellate – for Ventas, Inc., in its suit against HCP, Inc. It also mentions other Ventas matters in which Mr. Weiss has been first chair, and highlights several pro bono matters he has undertaken.
The article quotes T. Richard Riney, Ventas’ executive vice president, chief administrative officer and general counsel, who said, “Dan is making a significant mark as an attorney and I have no doubt that he will continue to do exceptional work and make meaningful and consequential contributions to the legal profession, his law firm, and the community.” Referring specifically to Ventas v. HCP, Mr. Riney noted, “This was path-breaking work – there were few cases to rely upon concerning tortious interference with a public company transaction. Dan’s creativity and his advocacy skills were essential ingredients in hard-fought victory.”
The feature also quotes Jenner & Block Partner David P. Bradford, who said, “Dan is an outstanding litigator and legal thinker. He is a fierce advocate who commands the respect of judges and opposing counsel alike.”
