Jenner & Block

LGBT

Jenner & Block works to promote and support Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) diversity in the workplace, in the profession and in the community. We have served as counsel in landmark LGBT civil liberties cases and continue to work on matters of concern to the LGBT community. We are proud of the recognition our firm has received for its support of LGBT attorneys and for the impact many of our LGBT attorneys have had on the profession, the community and society.

Our commitment to LGBT equality has been recognized in a number of ways. The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) has honored Jenner & Block for nine consecutive years with a 100% perfect rating in its closely watched “Corporate Equality Index” survey, representing the best places to work for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees.  The Vault 2014 rankings place Jenner & Block in the top 5 for LGBT Diversity.  In 2011, Jenner & Block  became the first law firm to be inducted into the Chicago Gay & Lesbian Hall of Fame.

In 2008, we received HRC’s Corporate Equality Award in recognition of our long-standing tradition of supporting LGBT civil rights.  In 2005, the firm was the first Chicago-headquartered law firm and only the fourth nationwide to earn a 100% rating.  In 2003, Jenner & Block was among the first law firms to be voluntarily rated by the HRC for our treatment of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals we employ.

Jenner & Block is one of the first law firms to publish a firm-sponsored publication on LGBT diversity. The LGBT Community Service issues of Equal Time, the firm’s diversity newsletter, include stories about the accomplishments of Jenner & Block openly gay attorneys, including legal viewpoints and other issues of interest.
